Cyber Security

Cyber Essentials

The Government’s Cyber Essentials certification is a pragmatic set of security standards that any organisation of any size can obtain, in order to confirm their commitment to cyber security.

In the non-profit sector, it is increasingly seen as the go-to cyber security requirement from funders, local authorities and grant givers.

Smartdesc - Cyber Essentials Services

What are the benefits of Cyber Essentials Certification?

Helps organisations to protect themselves against cyber threats

Demonstrates your commitment around Cyber Security to beneficiaries, sponsors, Trustees and funders

Provides a minimum set of security standards to defend against the majority of online attacks.

Is low cost and can be achieved in a matter of weeks

Smartdesc is a licensed Cyber Essentials Certification Body and has helped many non-profits achieve certification quickly and easily.

The process involves a short audit & gap analysis, a RAG report highlighting any areas that need tightening, and finally certification. There are two types of certification and both should be renewed annually:

Basic

A self-certified process where we take the information we are given by your technical support at face value.

Cyber Essentials Basic starts from £750, including discounts for NCVO, ACEVO or Charity Finance Group members.

Plus

The same process but audited and verified via the technical audit we run, independent of your existing IT support.

Smartdesc also offer a fully managed Cyber Security bundle that includes Cyber Essentials, Antivirus, IT Security Training, and Penetration Testing from £20 per seat per month – for more information click HERE.
