Chief Financial Officer Roundtable: Leading IT Without IT Knowledge as a CFO

Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) often own the IT budget and sometimes even the IT function within organisations, yet they are not IT professionals.

In this session, we invite finance leaders from charities who wear an IT “hat” to come together in a safe space, to share their experiences and lessons learned.

As with all our Roundtables, this is a chance to hear what other charities are doing in this area, learn from one another, and network. This is not a sales event.

The discussion will be open, but topics we might cover include:

  • How CFOs can be confident in the health of their IT environment without technical knowledge
  • What sort of Management Reporting / MI is appropriate to ask for
  • How IT Professionals working in your charity can develop their careers or be held to account by Finance leaders who aren’t IT people by trade
  • How do your peers at other charities track IT Governance, sense check procurement of IT systems, hardware and software
  • IT budgets – what is an appropriate level of spend and investment in IT?

The event is hosted by Smartdesc and Microsoft Elevate – Microsoft’s dedicated charity team, at their offices in London Paddington and is free to attend. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Who is this event for?

  • Mid to large size charities
  • CFOs
  • Heads of Finance
  • Head of Resources
  • Other related finance or non-technical leadership roles who have IT within their business unit or budget
